New CMS features released - blog feature and thumbnail images, and the role tree
For Mango River CMS (content management system) website users, we are happy to announce new features that are ready to use! As with most our new functionality, these new features are included with all hosting plans for no extra fee.
Blog Post Feature and Thumbnail Images
We now have new image features to help promote your blog posts. The feature image is used to display a large, prominent image at the beginning of a blog post, as shown above. This can be specified from the new blog post images tab, when adding/editing a post. The "Show in List Views" checkbox also allows you to use this photo when listing blog posts on pages.
You can also add a thumbnail image to appear on blog posts in the blog list view in the same manner. This can be used to add an image related to the post, such as an icon for the type of post, or an image related to the post. The thumbnail can be a different image from the blog feature image. Both sets of these images use responsive design, so they look great on mobile phones and tablets by automatically changing in size or move to fit a smaller window.
The Role Page Tree
For those that have multiple people working on pages, we now have a faster and easier way to assign pages to people. This used to be done by having to assign each page to a role. Now you can create and assign custom roles directly from the Manage Roles page. When creating or editing a role, a new role page tree is shown, which allows you to quickly assign pages to the role by ticking the appropriate box. Any users assigned to that role will then be assigned to those pages.
We hope you enjoy these new features!
