New CMS features added: shop checkout, blog and calendar ordering

With the start of the new year we've been busy making enhancements to our Mango River content management system (CMS), used by many to easily update their website.

A number of new features are now available in the system for those with accounts, and are included with your monthly hosting rate.

Blog and Calendar View Order Option

  • Alphabetical by Title
  • Chronological by Publish Date
  • Reverse Chronological by Publish Date

Have a blog or calendar on your website?  New ordering features are available to better meet your needs!

Previously any blog post formatted as a list ordered the list in descending order by publish date. Now you have the ability to choose the order for the posts in the list. Order options include:

There are really helpful if you would like to have your blog be more of an A to Z resource. The reverse chronological is helpful if you want to lead users through a chain of related articles, starting with the first post, then the next, etc.

For events in a list view, there was previously only a chronological order, but they can now be listed in reverse chronological order, in case you want to have a listing of past events.

Custom Shopping Cart Checkout

Our CMS comes with a completely integrated shopping platform. Previously there was little control over the appearance of the checkout page, but users now have the ability (with or without our help) to customise aspects of the checkout experience so your brand stays front and centre!

You can customize checkout by selecting Checkout from the Store Settings menu. The header image and background colour can now be customised to match your main website, and you can now include your logo at the top. You can also change the the colour of the page headings and buttons

New Customer Checkout Credit Card Options

Shoppers on your website now have new options for securely storing their credit card information. A "do not save" option is now available for those that do not want it stored, and would rather enter it each time they shop with you.

This is available on the checkout page from a tick box right after they enter their credit card details. The option is unchecked by default, if saved, and is stored securely in Stripe, our preferred shop transaction gateway.

Customers also now have a user profile page stored on your site, where they can update their credit card information,

New Image Gallery Display Sizes

Have a gallery of images on your website? The image element now has settings to let you specify the dimensions for image thumbnails. This is really helpful if you would like larger image galleries to make a big impact on visitors. Please see our image gallery thumbnail dimensions support page for more details.

We hope you enjoy these changes!
